This is a fantastic building system that utilizes struts and connectors (nodes) to construct a wide range of models, limited only by your imagination.  The connectors (nodes) are 3/4" in diameter and contain 62 holes in three shapes (triangle, rectangle, and pentagon) in which the color coded struts are inserted.  One node can have 62 struts inserted at the same time to allow one to build in 62 directions!  No other building system in the world offers this many options.

     The struts come in three basic colors (blue, yellow, and red) and each color in three different lengths.  Each color will only fit into its appropriately shaped hole in the node.  Blue struts (rectangle), yellow struts (triangle), and red struts (pentagon) fit in those shaped holes.

     You can use The Zome System to construct familiar objects, such as, boats, buildings, animals, aircraft, etc., as well as, many geometric shapes.  If you desire to explore geometry on a more complex scale, this system will accomodate your exploration.  Please read the text on Advanced Zome Geometry if interested in exploring this avenue.

     Each Zome Kit contains an instruction manual to explain the system and provide model instructions.  Any Zome Kit can be used to construct various three dimensional objects that can be used to create soap bubbles that have to be seen to be believed.  Instructions for homemade soap bubble solution is included in the instruction manuals.

     The green struts allow you to build regular tetrahedrons and regular octahedrons with the Zome System.  The green struts fit in the pentagonal holes of the zome nodes, however, unlike the red struts, the green struts are angled slightly so that they can be rotated to five different positions in one pentagonal hole.  This creates 60 (5 X 12 pentagonal holes) new directions in which to build.  Blue/green struts, not part of Zome Geometry are included to allow one to build a regular octagon.

     The Green Line Expansion Kit contains 306 pieces.  96 Green Struts, 144 Blue Green Struts, and 16 Blue Struts.  This set also contains 50 White Nodes.  Ages 12 and up.

     The Green Strut Starter Kit may be used on its own, however, more complex models can be constructed when combined with any Zome Kit.

     The Zome System is based on complex geometric principles which are responsible for the tremendous versability of the system.  Struts of the same color are sized according to the Golden Mean (1.618) and using any four blue struts two of one length and two of another length, when assembled, yields a Golden Rectangle.  We sell a book "Zome Geometry" by George W. Hart and Henri Picciotto that is written as a teaching tool for Geometry.  This book is very technical in nature with subsequent lessons building on knowledge learned from previous lessons.  It is designed to be used in conjunction with the Zome System Kits to provide a "hands on " learning experience.  This book is used to supplement the curriculum in many high school Geometry courses throughout the United States and other countries.
